"I first discovered Patrice’s artwork in a gallery while traveling through Michigan. The vibrant colors and energy expressed in her work drew me in instantly. I was in the process of redecorating my bedroom in a coastal theme, and decided to contact Patrice to ask if she would create a piece for my space. She was so easy to talk to, and seemed to know exactly what would complement my decor. She designed my diptych paintings and had them delivered to my home on the East Coast in a timely and professional manner. Both paintings were packed well for the journey, and arrived in perfect condition. After a long, stressful day, I know that I can retreat into my beautiful bedroom and be reborn in the peace and serenity that Patrice helped to create for me. Thanks, Patrice!" -- Tina
"Patrice's work is amazing! And she is amazing too! I saw her work displayed in a local gallery and loved it but there was nothing displayed in the size or color I needed. The gallery suggested I set up an appointment in my home with Patrice to tell/show her what I wanted and the style of my home. She custom painted a piece for me which is the pride and joy of my home. She delivered it on time and it exceeded my expectations. She is so nice too. I really enjoyed the entire experience!!!!!!" -- Barbie
"Patrice’s work have a sense of serenity reinforced by the colors chosen in each painting. What sets Patrice’s art apart as one of a kind is in my opinion her technique as the colors interact to each other so delicately that her paintings have a very special appearance that is so attractive to the viewers attention, therefore making her art a very strong statement especially the larger in size. They are great focal point in a room and emphasize and or contrast with the décor used. She is very reliable and takes her art very seriously, I know she does what ever it takes to make sure the clients are satisfied with her work." -- Pat
"I'm fortunate enough to have purchased three small paintings of the moon in various moods from serene to brilliant. Grouped together they are mesmerizing. Other small pieces include a moody landscape at dusk then a surprisingly brilliant sunlight waning into the grays of dusk! Each piece brings me joy!" -- Sue
"Your work makes me smile!" -- Barbara
Patrice Erickson’s oil paintings are inspired by the outdoors. The colors are often vibrant yet peaceful, softly blended, gradually transitioning from one color to another. She eliminates all signs of human activity. There are no buildings or roads. Through her paintings she’s showing her respect for nature and reminding herself that we need to be grateful and take care of our planet. Erickson likes to leave the viewer with a sense of serenity, peace, and reverence for nature -- immersed in the beauty.
Erickson was born in Hartford, Connecticut and currently lives and works in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with high honors from the University of Michigan-Flint. Her work has been exhibited in New York City, Chicago, Detroit, and Cincinnati among others; and is in private and corporate collections in the U.S. and abroad including the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union, Huntington National Bank, Valley Children's Hospital, and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital.
I’m inspired by nature’s transcendent beauty. The changing and fleeting sunlight fills the sky with glorious colors and imbues the land with a spiritual aura. It’s the peaceful and ethereal moments in the outdoors that I focus on painting, not necessarily exact depictions of a particular place.
My oil paintings are built up with multiple layers of paint and glazes. I’m striving for landscapes with depth and richness of color, luminosity, and a convincing sense of distance and atmosphere. These paintings are strong statements about serene moments created to give a sense of my personal experience with nature.
